So we dug into the science of twin sleep all ten studies of it. Small field, small samples, mostly focused on moms.

What we found: separate rooms improve everyone’s sleep (great, if your house has spare rooms ours doesn’t). Co-bedding helps in early infancy, but by seven months it’s mostly friendly hand-to-hand combat. And the counterintuitive one: don’t sprint to the crying twin. Twins get used to each other’s crying better than adults do wait a few minutes, and the sleeping one usually stays asleep.

We also discuss the snoo-to-crib transition. You’re dropping swaddles, motion, and white noise all at once, so avoid starting during an ear infection. Plus, we explore why the “mom does the nights” story doesn’t work for families with twins. Finally, we reframe our approach to stay sane: we’re not sleep training two babies. We’re building one sleep system with two inputs well that’s the plan at the moment.

Christina here. With a PhD in neurobiology and a background in genetics and pharmacology, I spent years as a senior editor at The Lancet, learning to separate fact from fiction in scientific studies. Now, I work as a software engineer at Amazon, identifying potential problems that could affect data centers that keep the internet running. When making decisions for our kids, I look for what the research says and where the gaps are.

Tim here. I’m a self-taught engineer with a passion for data, analytics, and AI. Raised on a hippie island off Canada’s west coast, I was homeschooled and later worked on behavior change at Thrive Global. I also studied Ashtanga yoga and Eastern philosophy while living in India. My first question is usually: why is this the norm, and should it be? I tend to think and dream big until Christina brings me back to reality.
